Born in Istanbul in 1989, Ayk Çubukçu graduated from the Pierre Loti French High School. He attended Isik University Fine Arts Faculty with 100% scholarship and completed his post graduate studies at Milano Domus Academy with another one. He also had started working with Sevan Biçakçi in the Grand Bazaar during the first year of college and become a part of Bicakci’s team for five years.
After completing post-graduate studies in Milano, he returned to ‹stanbul and established his own brand AYK, which takes its name from its founder. Having designed his own jewellery series and bringing most of his designs to life on his own counter, Ayk announced his first collection, ‘Oltama Tak›lanlar’ (Things I Caught with my Fishing Rod). Ayk continued his diverse designs and started making his own t-shirts in 2013 summer season. As the t-shirts became a hit, Ayk started added new models every season and became prominent within the textile market.
Focusing on white t-shirts, Ayk targets for the best quality products by following his own criteria from the sketches to fabrics and maintaining a meticulous manufacturing process.
Ayk also continues his works on the jewelry counter and turns the wax sculptures into jewelry. He states that he is generally inspired by nature and his favorite activity is sailing with his small boat and fishing. We can imagine that this is the inspiration behind his collection called ‘Things I Caught with my Fishing Rod’.
